About

I am an experienced Learning and Development specialist, Learning Designer and educator with over 20 years of practice across UK and international schools, higher education and digital learning environments. Currently working as a Learning Technologist at the University of Southampton, I combine deep pedagogical expertise with hands-on capability in instructional design, e-learning development, LMS administration and staff training delivery. I hold a Certified Professional Diploma in Digital Learning Design with Distinction from the Digital Learning Institute, a PGCE and CELTA, and I am working towards Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

My instructional design work is grounded in cognitive science, adult learning theory, Bloom's Taxonomy, Mayer's Multimedia Principles and ADDIE, and I have designed and built e-learning courses using Articulate Rise and Storyline from needs analysis through to evaluation. As a volunteer I designed and built microlearning courses for a Canadian company called Runie who are active across the world. As an advanced user and administrator of Blackboard Ultra, I have led VLE migration projects, designed and delivered staff training programmes and conducted quality assurance reviews across more than 100 university modules. I have a strong track record of driving measurable outcomes, including raising mathematics attainment from 53% to 88% meeting the expected standard across a three-year school improvement programme.

I am an early adopter of generative AI in learning and development, co-facilitating the University of Southampton's Promptathon and contributing to the institution's AI and digital literacy programme by delivering training to students and staff. I design inclusive, accessible learning experiences aligned to UDL and WCAG 2.2 standards as standard practice, and I regularly engage with sector research and professional bodies including JISC, Advance HE and CIPD. I am a confident trainer, coach and facilitator with experience supporting diverse audiences from frontline staff and students through to senior academics and faculty leads, consistently receiving strong feedback for clear, patient and impactful delivery.
