About
Dear Hiring Team,
Having recently completed my A-Levels, I am eager to begin a career in Human Resources, and I would like a role that gives me hands-on experience while actually contributing from day one.
I spent several months volunteering at Oxfam, where I was often the first person visitors spoke to. I got used to handling all sorts of queries on the spot and staying calm when things got busy. I think that kind of front-line experience translates well to managing a service desk, where you're juggling different queries and need to know when to handle something yourself and when to flag it on.
I have also picked up Excel and admin skills through two placements. At Bates Wells and Braithwaite London LLP, I helped with budgeting and reporting, kept spreadsheets updated and accurate, and got involved in invoice handling. I have also spent some time within the HR department, where I have attended onboarding meetings and helped solve queries in the workplace. During a placement at NatWest, I saw firsthand how seriously teams take confidentiality and data handling.
Further, I have been involved with a national youth charity, Pandava Sena, since 2020. I've given weekly presentations to groups of 100+ young people and helped organise large events and retreats, sorting logistics, schedules and itineraries. It's taught me how to stay organised under pressure and communicate clearly with lots of different people. Additionally, I am proud of completing the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, which has taught me multiple things, such as working well within a team and how to act in a leadership role.
I look forward to the opportunity to bring my organisation and people skills, and to learn from people who've been doing this for a lot longer than I have.
Kind Regards,
Diya Thaker
