Learning & Development Manager
North London (Hybrid – 3 days on site)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Learning & Development Manager to join a leading FMCG business in North London.
This is a pivotal role responsible for designing and delivering impactful learning experiences that build capability, develop leadership, and drive operational excellence across a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You’ll be the driving force behind shaping a learning culture that enables people to thrive — from hands-on craft and technical skills to leadership and compliance training.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify future capability needs and create solutions to close skills gaps.
- Lead and manage apprenticeship programmes, ensuring alignment with operational goals and external standards.
- Design and deliver structured training pathways for all roles – from entry-level operatives to team leaders and supervisors.
- Develop and embed a skills matrix across departments to support career progression and capability benchmarking.
- Facilitate learning for first-line and mid-level leaders in areas such as coaching, people management, and performance.
- Support succession planning by developing emerging leadership talent.
- Oversee delivery of company-wide compliance and mandatory training (e.g. H&S, food safety).
- Manage the learning platform (LMS or equivalent) and track engagement and progress.
- Lead and inspire the training and compliance team to deliver high-quality learning outcomes.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure learning initiatives align with business priorities and production needs.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the impact of learning programmes.
Key Background:
- Proven experience in an L&D role within FMCG, food production, or manufacturing.
- Strong background in creating and implementing learning strategies that deliver measurable impact.
- Skilled in delivering leadership and skills-based training to varied audiences.
- Experience managing apprenticeships and community learning initiatives.
- Knowledge of compliance and legal training requirements.
- Creative learning designer and engaging facilitator.
- Confident using digital learning tools and LMS platforms.
- Excellent stakeholder management, coaching, and influencing skills.
- Strong leadership and project management capability.
