An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HR Advisor to join a growing business. Reporting to the HR Director, this hands-on, generalist role supports around 100 employees and delivers comprehensive HR advice to managers across the organisation. This is ideal for an experienced HR professional looking to further develop in a fast-paced environment.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
Employee Relations
- Act as first point of contact for ER matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance
- Provide advice on policies, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant application
- Support investigations, hearings, and outcome documentation
- Maintain accurate records and escalate high-risk cases
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage end-to-end recruitment: advertising, screening, scheduling, and offers
- Issue contracts and offer letters
- Oversee onboarding including right-to-work checks, references, and inductions
- Maintain accurate recruitment and starter records
HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain employee records in line with GDPR
- Prepare contracts, letters, and HR documentation
- Support HR audits and ensure documentation is compliant and up to date
- Ensure statutory obligations are met throughout the employee lifecycle
Performance & Absence
- Support appraisal and salary review processes
- Advise on performance improvement and capability procedures
- Monitor absence, support return-to-work meetings, and manage long-term cases
Payroll & Benefits
- Liaise with payroll to ensure accurate processing of employee changes
- Maintain HR data in line with payroll deadlines
- Assist with benefits administration and employee queries
HR Reporting & Training
- Produce reports on headcount, turnover, recruitment, and absence
- Maintain HR data to support workforce planning
- Support training coordination and maintain records
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in an HR Advisor or HR Officer role
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Experience managing ER cases end-to-end
- Experience in recruitment and onboarding
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator able to advise and influence
- CIPD Level 3+ desirable (or working towards)
- Construction or similar sector experience advantageous
