** Background
LEaD works with Schools and Services to enhance the educational experiences of City St George’s students and champion innovation in teaching and learning.
This role is a member of the LEaD Senior Leadership Team and the head of the Student Learning Development team within LEaD.
Student Learning Development combines and integrates Academic skills, English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and Digital Literacies. It involves the direct teaching of effective literacy, digital and study practices, as well as collaborative work with students and academic programme teams to enhance the curriculum through informed perspectives on and approaches to student learning experiences (for example in relation to assessment and feedback, and the use of digital technologies and AI). A particular focus is on support for students' academic transition into higher education study.
** Responsibilities
- Develop long-term strategy for institution-wide learning development.
- Plan, organise and oversee delivery of group/1:1 student development sessions, embedded curriculum interventions, and staff development activities.
- Oversee the design, use and timely review of learning resources
- Coordinate work with colleagues and students across programmes and professional services to identify learning needs and develop embedded learning development activities
- Line manage staff, overseeing wellbeing and performance, identifying development needs, balancing workloads and ensuring alignment of effort with university priorities.
** Person Specification
- Experience of planning and providing learning development and digital literacy within HE
- A teaching qualification or equivalent experience demonstrating higher order thinking and problem solving in education
- Experience of developing learning support materials, including digital learning resources
- Ability to network and form relationships with stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, including report-writing and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences and contexts.
- Capable of leading and motivating staff in their work and educational practice
