HR Officer - Permanent Opportunity
Location: Oxford | Hybrid (3 days onsite)Salary: £32,000 – £37,000 (pro rata)Working pattern: Full-time or Part-time (30-36.5 hours)
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised HR Officer to join a busy and collaborative professional services team within a leading academic environment in Oxford.
Reporting to the HR Manager, you’ll work closely with colleagues to deliver a comprehensive and efficient HR service across a varied workforce. This is a generalist role offering exposure to the full employee lifecycle and the chance to further develop your HR career in a fast-paced and rewarding setting.
Key responsibilities
- Acting as the first point of contact for HR queries, providing guidance to managers and staff
- Managing end-to-end recruitment processes, including advertising, shortlisting and onboarding
- Drafting contracts and offer letters for employees and casual workers
- Supporting payroll by processing monthly changes accurately and on time
- Maintaining HR records and systems, ensuring data accuracy and compliance
- Monitoring absence, probation periods, and fixed-term contracts
- Supporting visa administration in line with current regulations
- Delivering inductions for new starters
- Contributing to HR projects, process improvements, and staff initiatives
About you
- CIPD Level 3 qualified (or working towards)
- Previous HR administration experience, including recruitment
- Good understanding of employment law and HR best practice
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Customer-focused with a proactive approach
- Confident using MS Office and able to learn new systems
- Able to work independently and collaboratively
