HR Advisor Location: Wolverhampton (WV) Contract Type: Permanent Reports to: HR Business Partner
Join Our People TeamWe are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to join our HR team in Wolverhampton. Working closely with the HR Business Partner, you will act as the first point of contact for managers, providing expert guidance across a broad range of employee relations matters. You will play a key role in supporting managers to make consistent, fair, and legally compliant decisions while promoting best practice people management across the organisation.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs an HR Advisor, you will:
- Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to managers on a variety of employee relations matters.
- Support managers with complex casework including:
- Sickness absence management (short and long-term)
- Disciplinary and grievance processes
- Workplace investigations
- Capability and performance management
- Whistle blowing concerns
- Flexible working requests
- Advise on suspension processes and ensure appropriate procedures are followed.
- Coordinate and support formal meetings, hearings, and case discussions.
- Attend meetings and accurately document proceedings through confidential note-taking.
- Draft professional correspondence including investigation reports, outcome letters, and formal communications.
- Monitor absence levels, identify trigger points, and support managers in taking appropriate action.
- Coordinate occupational health referrals and support the implementation of recommendations.
- Build effective working relationships with trade union representatives and employee representatives.
- Deliver training, coaching, and guidance to managers on key HR policies and processes.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support HR projects and initiatives as required.
What We're Looking ForQualifications & Experience- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or currently studying towards it) and/or substantial experience in an HR Advisor role.
- Demonstrable experience managing and advising on complex employee relations cases.
- Experience of working with trade unions or employee representatives is desirable.
Knowledge & Skills- Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate, and professional documentation.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience delivering training, coaching, or workshops to managers.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and HR systems.
- Experience with iTrent HR software would be advantageous.
