Reed HR are delighted to be supporting a well-established national not-for-profit organisation in the search for a Head of People & Organisational Development. This is a pivotal leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape organisational culture, strengthen leadership capability, and drive a people strategy that enables long-term success.
Working as part of the Executive Leadership Team and reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead the organisation's People and Organisational Development function, ensuring employees are supported, engaged, and empowered to deliver outstanding outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the People & Organisational Development Strategy.
- Drive initiatives that enhance workforce capability, employee engagement, leadership development, and organisational culture.
- Provide expert HR advice and guidance to senior leaders, Executive colleagues, and Trustees.
- Ensure HR policies, procedures, and employment practices remain effective, compliant, and fit for purpose.
- Lead on organisational change, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Act as the senior lead for employee relations matters and people-related risk management.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and external HR/employment law advisers.
- Prepare and present workforce reports, insights, and recommendations to Boards and Committees.
- Champion innovation and the use of technology to improve organisational effectiveness.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant experience in a senior HR, People, Culture, or Organisational Development leadership role.
- Experience within the charity, not-for-profit, membership, education, healthcare, housing, or wider purpose-led sector.
- A proven track record of developing leadership capability, driving cultural change, and improving employee engagement.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience working with Executive teams, Boards, Trustees, or governing bodies.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- A strategic mindset combined with a practical, hands-on approach.
- Confidence in managing complex people challenges and driving organisational improvement.
- CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent experience.
