The Opportunity
This is a brilliant opportunity for a People Officer to join a respected Yorkshire brand during a period of real transformation.
You’ll work closely with the People Director in a small, hands-on HR team that’s building modern systems and processes to support the business as it grows. It’s a role that blends day-to-day HR activity with project ownership, ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative and wants to make a difference.
If you’re ready to help shape a more modern, connected HR function while keeping people at the heart of everything you do, this could be your next move.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the People Director across all HR operations and projects
- Advising managers on day-to-day people matters including absence, disciplinaries and grievances
- Leading recruitment and onboarding to deliver a consistent, positive candidate experience
- Helping to implement a new HR system and move processes from manual to digital
- Supporting employee engagement, communication and wellbeing initiatives
- Maintaining accurate HR data and reports for decision-making
- Contributing to cultural change, collaboration and consistency across the business
About You
You’ll already be working in HR, either as an experienced People Officer or a strong HR Administrator ready to take that next step. You’ll be confident with processes and people, comfortable working independently and keen to develop your expertise.
You’ll need:
- Experience across the HR lifecycle, ideally within an advisory or generalist role
- Knowledge of UK employment law and best practice
- Confidence using HR systems or data management tools
- The ability to build trust and credibility across all levels of a business
- A proactive, adaptable approach and genuine interest in continuous improvement
CIPD Level 3 (or equivalent) is desirable and for the right person the company will provide full funding and support to complete a Level 3 or Level 5 CIPD qualification.
Why This Role Matters
This is more than a day-to-day HR position. It’s a chance to be part of a business that’s proud of its past and ambitious about its future. You’ll help shape how people join, develop and connect within the company, ensuring the HR experience is as distinctive as the Timothy Taylor’s brand itself.
Timothy Taylor’s values its people and offers a supportive, down-to-earth working environment. Alongside career development and study support, employees enjoy a range of benefits including:
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Annual company bonus
- Private healthcare and life assurance
- Early finish on Fridays (4pm)
- Staff discounts in Timothy Taylor’s pubs and free on-site parking
The Process
- Telephone conversation with Sarah McKenna HR Recruitment to learn more about you and your goals
- Initial Teams interview with the People Director
- Final interview on-site with the People Director and a member of the leadership team
Throughout the process, communication will be clear, feedback constructive and timing transparent because your experience as a candidate matters just as much as finding the right person for the business.
We’re open to hearing from people with a range of backgrounds and experiences. If you meet most of what’s listed and feel this role could be right for you, we’d still love to hear from you.
We’re committed to ensuring a fair and inclusive recruitment process. If you need any adjustments or support to take part in the process, please let us know and we’ll be happy to accommodate.
