HR Advisor

We are looking for a skilled HR Advisor to provide high-quality generalist HR support across various operational areas. This role involves a full range of HR activities, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and best practices.
Main Duties
- Support the Employee Relations Manager in delivering a proactive HR Advisory Service.
- Provide dedicated HR advice and support to various levels of management and staff in areas such as disciplinary actions, grievances, recruitment, and more.
- Regularly meet with senior leadership to gather feedback and define improvements to HR support.
- Monitor staff absences, provide managerial support, and make referrals to Occupational Health as needed.
- Assist managers in preparing for Employment Tribunals.
- Work proactively with trade unions to maintain effective employee relations.
- Support HR projects as directed by the Employee Relations Manager or Head of HR.
- Develop, deliver, and review in-house training on various HR topics.
- Provide strategic advice during large-scale restructures and corporate programs.
- Act as deputy to the Employee Relations Manager in their absence.
- Collaborate with the HR team to adapt the HR function to meet evolving needs.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Demonstrable knowledge of operational Human Resources.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent (desirable).
Relevant Experience
- Experience in handling complex employee relations cases.
- Experience with Occupational Health and absence monitoring.
- Strong relationship-building skills across various levels and organizations.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data to identify trends.
- Experience in developing and delivering HR training materials.
- Experience in creating user-friendly procedures and processes.
Specialist Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of employment law.
- Understanding of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
- Experience with Job evaluations and TUPE transfers (desirable).
Personal Skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive conversations and resolve issues effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and autonomy in decision-making.
- Customer-focused approach with a commitment to improving service delivery.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office at an intermediate level.
