Reed HR are working alongside a Not for Profit Organisation based in South East London who are recruiting for an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead on a permanent basis.
This role is hybrid, so flexibility is offered.
Job Summary
Building on the work to date the postholder will be responsible for:
- Ensuring that the EDI agenda is recognised as positive, proactive and influential in contributing to the organisations strategic and operational planning and delivery;
- Further develop an EDI strategy for the charity and embedding it within the charity’s multiyear strategy;
- Leading and co-ordinating the implementation of the EDI action plan across our four key cohorts - volunteers, cadets, employees, and maritime professionals/apprentices.
- Providing EDI advice and guidance to ensure we champion, promote and embed equity, diversity and inclusion across our charity.
Responsibilities & Duties
1. Build out and champion the EDI strategy, as part of the charity wide strategy, based on the EDI review findings and work to date.
2. Lead the delivery of the EDI action plan and programme manage the key workstreams.
3. Lead the EDI steering group.
4. Support the leadership team to lead the change and embed the culture of diversity and inclusion across the charity (employees, volunteers, cadets and apprentices)
5. Raise awareness and champion EDI in all that is done.
6. Provide advice, guidance and support regarding all EDI matters across the charity, working with specialist bodies or signposting where necessary.
7. Support and provide advice on policy and process developments with a specific focus on EDI.
8. Collaborate with volunteers, employees and other key stakeholders across the charity to ensure EDI is embedded within all we do.
9. Develop and support formal and informal internal networks, champions or focus groups to engage and support people from marginalised backgrounds.
10. Raise awareness and understanding of our EDI priorities.
11. Promote opportunities for inclusion best practices.
12. Support the implementation of EDI training programmes for cadets, volunteers, employees and others.
13. Support inclusive recruiting practices for volunteers, cadets and employees.
14. Ensure that capture and monitor data, sharing insights and updates to drive progress.
15. Keeping up to date with the latest EDI developments and best practice.
Person spec
- Experience of leading work on EDI within a complex organisation.
- Leadership skills with proven experience leading change.
- Experience of delivering EDI initiatives throughout an organisation.
- Specialist knowledge to act as the EDI subject matter expert, with detailed knowledge of EDI legislation and regulations and the practical implementation of this.
