Compliance Officer
Up to £50k with hybrid working
London (WC1V)
A growing and forward-thinking London-based law firm is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join its Operations function. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in strengthening the firm’s regulatory framework and supporting senior leadership in maintaining high compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct file reviews and compliance monitoring across multiple practice areas
- Review AML, KYC and source of funds/wealth documentation
- Support client onboarding processes and handle initial compliance queries
- Monitor conflicts and client due diligence processes
- Carry out AML screening (sanctions, PEPs, adverse media) and ongoing monitoring of high-risk clients
- Support and enhance AML frameworks, risk assessments, policies and procedures
- Assist with SRA audits and regulatory reviews
- Maintain compliance registers and reporting logs
- Provide practical compliance guidance and training to fee earners
- Support firm accreditations (e.g. Lexcel) and wider compliance initiatives
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a legal compliance role
- Strong knowledge of SRA Standards and UK AML regulations
- Proven experience in file reviews, audits and client due diligence
- Ability to interpret regulations and communicate clearly across the business
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
