Established in 2007, Select Lifestyles Limited provides support to adults with learning disabilities and complex needs within our residential homes, supported living schemes and day centres across the West Midlands.
The People Partner – Employee Relations will provide expert people advice and hands-on employee relations support across Adult Social Care services. The role leads on complex and high-volume casework, supports managers with workforce challenges, and helps ensure fair, legally compliant, and people-centred employment practices.
Working closely with operational leaders, the postholder will manage a broad range of employee relations matters including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, capability, safeguarding-related employment issues, and organisational change within a fast-paced care environment.
Location: West Bromwich (onsite)
Contracted Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 (dependent on experience)
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Case Management
Lead and manage a high volume of complex employee relations cases from initial advice through to resolution.
Advise managers on disciplinary, grievance, capability, sickness absence, safeguarding, and performance matters.
Support formal hearings and meetings, including preparation of documentation and outcome recommendations.
Ensure all casework is managed consistently, fairly, and in line with employment legislation, organisational policy, and best practice.
Provide risk-based advice on sensitive and complex workforce issues.
Support managers with probation reviews, conduct concerns, and workforce investigations.
Monitor case trends and provide insight to support proactive workforce interventions.
Partnership & Operational Support
Act as a trusted People Partner to managers across Select Lifestyles services.
Build strong working relationships with operational leaders to support workforce performance and service delivery.
Coach and upskill managers in people management and employee relations practices.
Support workforce planning, restructures, consultations, and organisational change processes where required.
• Produce regular employee relations data, reports, and trend analysis to inform senior leaders and support strategic workforce decisions.
Compliance & Safeguarding
Ensure HR practices align with safeguarding principles and safer workforce requirements within care services.
Support compliance with employment law, CQC expectations, and local authority policies where applicable.
Maintain accurate records and case documentation in line with GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
People & Culture
Promote a positive, inclusive, and values-led working culture.
Support initiatives that improve employee wellbeing, engagement, retention, and attendance.
Contribute to continuous improvement within People & Culture processes and systems.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Significant experience managing complex employee relations casework in a fast-paced environment.
Experience supporting managers within Adult Social Care, healthcare, local government, or other regulated services.
Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
Experience handling high-volume caseloads independently.
Experience advising on absence management, disciplinary, grievance, and capability matters.
CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience.
Ability to travel across Select Lifestyles services within the West Midlands as required
Confidence advising on suspension, redeployment, and risk-management decisions.
Strong written skills for complex outcome letters and reports.
Experience working with HRIS and case management tools
