A public sector organisation based in Bedford is seeking a HR Officer whilst it is undergoing a period of organisational change and transformation within its People function. You will support the delivery of key employee relations and consultation activities, ensuring colleagues receive professional, timely and compassionate support throughout the process.
This role will play an important part in supporting collective and individual consultation processes, maintaining accurate HR records, responding to employee and manager queries, and ensuring that all activities are managed in line with policy, legislation and organisational values.
This is an initial 3-month contract position based in Bedford (very flexible hybrid working - twice a month in the office), with a daily rate of £325 per day via an Umbrella company (inside IR35).

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting collective and individual consultation processes.
- Acting as a first point of contact for consultation-related HR queries.
- Manage and coordinate HR inbox enquiries, ensuring they are triaged, allocated and resolved appropriately.
- Support collective and individual consultation processes, ensuring a positive employee experience throughout.
- Assist with redundancy and organisational change activities, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Ensure HR documentation is compliant, accurate and stored appropriately.
- Manage employee lifecycle administration, including leavers processes and employment references.
- Communicate employee lifecycle changes to Payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR system data.
- Produce and analyse HR reports and management information.
- Support the HR Advisory Team with administrative and project-based activities.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the delivery of an excellent HR service.

Essential Requirements
- Recent and relevant experience supporting HR consultation processes.
- Experience working within an HR administration, HR coordinator or HR officer role.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent levels of accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Experience maintaining HR systems and employee records.
- Experience producing HR reports and working with HR data.
- Understanding of HR processes and payroll-related activities.
- Ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
- Strong team-working and relationship-building skills.
