HR Consultant (ER / Trade Union Focus)

We are seeking an HR Consultant with a focus on Employee Relations (ER) and Trade Union interactions to join our team. This role is crucial in delivering a professional HR service and contributing to the development of a positive employee relations framework. The successful candidate will be a senior practitioner involved in various strategic HR functions and initiatives. Day-to-day of the role:
- Deliver a risk-based HR consultancy service to managers across all areas of people management practice.
- Provide support in formal procedures relevant to the risk potential.
- Advise on and support the people dimensions of portfolio change initiatives and processes.
- Assist in defining corporate Trade Union (TU) representation standards and effective consultation and negotiation frameworks.
- Operate and support effective operational TU representation and consultation arrangements.
- Ensure HR advice is based on best practice, consistent interpretation of policy, HR practice, and legislation.
- Support the development of positive employee relations.
- Define and manage the corporate job grading and allocations process.
- Develop interventions to support employee engagement activity informed by the Workforce Opinion Survey outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- CIPD level 5 or above, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working in a large, complex multidisciplinary organisation, ideally within the public sector.
- Proficient in using organisational and business insights to influence change through people, processes, and systems.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with a range of stakeholders including managers, customers, partners, and suppliers.
- Knowledge of employee engagement approaches and policy.
- Understanding of business intelligence to inform change proposals.
- Familiarity with organisational employment policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of employment and equalities law.
