We're recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing manufacturing business seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the people function across multiple sites. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive HR professional who enjoys building strong relationships, supporting operational managers, and driving best practice across all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
While the role does include responsibility for Health & Safety compliance, the primary focus is on delivering a high-quality, operational HR service to the business.
The Role
As HR Manager, you will act as the trusted HR lead for the organisation, supporting managers and employees across a diverse workforce. You'll have the autonomy to shape HR processes, ensure compliance with employment legislation, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing day-to-day HR advice and guidance to managers
- Managing employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management and performance issues
- Supporting recruitment activities and onboarding processes
- Reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with employment legislation and HR best practice
- Supporting employee engagement, retention and wellbeing initiatives
- Maintaining accurate HR records and systems
- Partnering with management teams to support business objectives
- Identifying opportunities to improve people processes and practices
Health & Safety
Alongside HR responsibilities, you will also oversee key Health & Safety activities, including:
- Coordinating and reviewing risk assessments
- Supporting audits and compliance requirements
- Monitoring accident and near-miss reporting
- Ensuring policies and procedures remain compliant with current legislation
- Promoting a positive health and safety culture across the business
About You
We're looking for an experienced HR professional who enjoys being hands-on, visible within the business, and confident managing a wide range of people issues.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in a standalone HR Manager or Senior HR Generalist role
- Strong employee relations knowledge and experience
- Sound understanding of UK employment law
- Experience supporting operational or manufacturing environments
- Ability to build credibility and influence at all levels
- Comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of the HR function
Desirable
- Health & Safety experience, including risk assessments and compliance
- IOSH qualification or similar Health & Safety training
- Manufacturing, production, logistics or FMCG sector experience
