HSEQ Manager
£50,000 | Full-time | Outskirts of Colchester

We are working exclusively with a well-established, family-run engineering business based on the outskirts of Colchester, who are looking to appoint an experienced HSEQ Manager to lead Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental activities across the business.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a key role with real autonomy and influence, responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the company’s integrated management systems and ensuring ongoing compliance with ISO9001, ISO45001 and ISO14001.
The Role
As HSEQ Manager, you will take full ownership of QHSE across the business, ensuring best practice, compliance and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and improving the company’s Integrated Management Systemusing Vi-Flow software (training provided)
- Ensuring ongoing compliance with ISO9001, ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards
- Planning, coordinating and conducting internal audits in line with the audit plan
- Coordinating and hosting external ISO, Achilles and customer audits
- Liaising with all departments to ensure processes, procedures and systems are current and compliant
- Managing supplier audits for existing and new suppliers
- Ensuring all procedures, risk assessments and H&S documentation are up to date and followed through to completion
- Supporting the Managing Director on all Health & Safety and Environmental matters
- Proactively identifying and addressing H&S and Environmental risks and opportunities for improvement
- Monitoring personal and company KPIs and producing monthly reports
- Carrying out quality inspections during production and prior to dispatch
- Inspecting incoming goods where required to ensure quality standards are met
- Undertaking any other duties necessary for the successful running of the business
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- A background in Quality Assurance, Health & Safety and Environmental management
- Experience working within an engineering environment
- Strong knowledge of ISO9001, ISO45001 and ISO14001
- IOSH, NEBOSH and/or Quality Assurance qualifications (advantageous)
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- A proactive, self-motivated and confident approach
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of your area
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels
- A professional, customer-focused attitude
- Own transport (due to location)
Working Hours
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00 (1-hour lunch break) – Fully on site
