We’re looking for an Organisation Effectiveness Lead to play a key role in shaping the future of Southern Water’s operating model, organisational design, and job architecture. As part of our Organisation Effectiveness (OE) team, you will partner closely with senior leaders to translate strategy into structures, capabilities, and ways of working that support our long-term transformation.
Reporting to the Head of Organisation Effectiveness, this role is a primary delivery position within the OE team and works collaboratively with the SWP & Organisational Architecture Lead and OD&E Analyst to drive design excellence, governance, and quality across the organisation.
What you will be responsible for
- Leading operating model and organisational design initiatives, providing evidence-based recommendations and design artefacts for senior stakeholders.
- Designing and maintaining value streams and ways of working that support efficiency, clarity and strategic delivery.
- Owning and developing Southern Water’s job architecture framework, including job families, role taxonomy and career structures.
- Leading the role evaluation methodology (WTW GGS), ensuring rigour, fairness and consistent application across the organisation.
- Driving the redesign and potential automation of role evaluation processes, including AI-supported tooling.
- Upholding governance standards across organisational design, job architecture and evaluation.
- Providing expert advice to HR Business Partners, Reward, Finance and senior leaders on structural decisions and organisational health.
- Supporting capability uplift across the HR community through coaching and knowledge-sharing.
Additional Requirements Specific to the Role
- Works closely with senior stakeholders and requires strong communication skills to translate complex design principles for non-specialist audiences.
- May require occasional travel across Southern Water sites.
What you’ll bring to the role
Essential
- Strong knowledge of operating model design, organisational design principles and value stream mapping.
- Deep expertise in job evaluation frameworks (ideally WTW GGS) and job architecture.
- Proven ability to develop high-quality design artefacts (blueprints, org charts, RACIs, capability models).
- Experience delivering OD and job architecture work in a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation.
- Skilled at facilitating senior-level workshops and influencing at leadership level.
- Experience contributing to process redesign and exposure to automation or AI-assisted tooling.
- Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable recommendations.
Desirable
- CIPD Level 7 or equivalent.
- Organisation Design accreditation (e.g., Effective OD, ODCP).
- WTW GGS accreditation.
- Experience in regulated or similarly complex industries.
- Familiarity with OrgVue, Workday, or similar modelling tools.
