HR & Communications Assistant – School Based Role
Engage Education are currently recruiting for a highly organised and proactive HR & Communications Assistant to join a busy and supportive school environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative and communication skills who is looking to develop their experience across HR, recruitment and internal communications.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same, supporting both HR processes and whole-school communication to ensure smooth and effective operations.
About the role
As a HR & Communications Assistant, you will provide administrative support across HR functions while also supporting staff engagement, internal communications and recruitment processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting recruitment processes including job adverts, candidate communication and interview coordination
- Assisting with onboarding and pre-employment checks including DBS, references and right to work
- Acting as a first point of contact for routine HR queries
- Maintaining accurate HR records, systems and databases
- Supporting induction processes and probation tracking
- Creating and distributing internal communications such as newsletters and updates
- Managing communication platforms including SharePoint, website content and internal systems
- Supporting staff engagement initiatives, events and INSET days
- Drafting, editing and proofreading communication materials
- Supporting employer branding and recruitment campaigns
- Assisting with external communications and liaison with agencies where required
- Ensuring all communication and HR processes are compliant with policies and GDPR
- Working collaboratively with wider teams including HR, ICT and leadership
About you
- Experience in an administrative or communications role
- Experience supporting HR processes or recruitment (desirable)
- Strong written communication skills with attention to detail
- Confident using IT systems including Microsoft Office and digital platforms
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Professional, discreet and confident handling sensitive information
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Understanding of safeguarding and data protection in a school setting (desirable)
