HR Advisor
Manchester (Hybrid)
We are partnering with a well-established and growing financial services organisation to recruit an experienced HR Advisor. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced, evolving business where you’ll play a key role in delivering proactive, solution-focused HR support across the organisation.
This is a hands-on, generalist position where you’ll act as a trusted advisor to managers, supporting a wide range of employee relations activity while contributing to broader HR initiatives and projects.
The Role
As HR Advisor, you will work closely with managers to build capability, support effective people management, and ensure compliance with employment legislation, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Provide expert advice and guidance across a full range of ER matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence, performance, and probation.
- Support managers with practical, balanced advice that considers both business needs and risk.
- Assist in preparing investigation documentation, meeting packs, and outcome letters.
Absence Management
- Monitor short- and long-term absence cases, implementing early interventions where appropriate.
- Support return-to-work processes and reasonable adjustment discussions.
- Analyse absence trends and provide insights to help reduce overall absence levels.
Manager Capability
- Coach and support managers to confidently and effectively manage people issues.
- Identify recurring challenges and implement training, guidance, or process improvements.
- Take a proactive approach to prevent issues escalating.
Policy & ER Landscape
- Keep up to date with employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Review and update HR policies and procedures.
- Support with complex or emerging ER topics.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Assist with SMCR processes including records, audits, and ongoing oversight.
- Ensure HR processes and documentation meet regulatory requirements.
Recruitment & Talent
- Support end-to-end recruitment, including role scoping, interviews, and candidate evaluation.
- Promote fair, inclusive, and compliant hiring practices.
Reporting & Data
- Provide accurate and timely reporting for group requirements.
- Maintain organised, reliable HR data to ensure consistency and compliance.
About You
- Proven experience in a generalist HR role at advisory level.
- CIPD qualified (or working towards) or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation.
- Confident using HR systems with strong digital capability.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Discreet, professional, and comfortable handling sensitive information.
- A proactive, positive approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
