HR Advisor Location: Wolverhampton (WV) Full-time | Permanent
About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to join our HR team. Acting as the first point of contact for managers, you will provide high-quality, pragmatic advice on a wide range of employee relations matters.
Reporting to the HR Business Partner, you will play a key role in supporting and empowering managers to deliver fair, consistent, and legally compliant people management practices aligned with organisational values and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a trusted HR advisor to managers on employee relations (ER) issues
- Support and guide managers through ER cases, including:
- Sickness absence (short- and long-term)
- Investigations, disciplinaries, and grievances
- Capability and performance management
- Whistle blowing cases
- Flexible working requests
- Provide advice on suspension processes and best practice approaches
- Coordinate and attend formal meetings, hearings, and case discussions
- Take accurate, confidential notes during formal proceedings
- Build and maintain effective relationships with trade unions and employee representatives
- Draft professional documentation including outcome letters and case correspondence
- Monitor absence trends and escalate trigger points in line with policy
- Support occupational health referrals and follow-up actions
- Deliver training and coaching to managers on HR processes and absence management
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures
- Support HR projects as required
About YouYou will be a confident and knowledgeable HR professional with a strong background in employee relations.
Qualifications & Experience- CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards), or equivalent experience
- Proven experience managing complex ER cases
- Experience working with trade unions (desirable)
Skills & Knowledge- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to produce clear, accurate, and professional documentation
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Confident delivering training and coaching to managers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR systems (iTrent desirable)
