HR Manager - Manufacturing, (Eccles)
£55,000-£65,000 + benefits + 4 days on site
We are supporting a global industrial manufacturer in their search for a confident, site-based ( 4 days per week) HR Manager to lead the delivery of people operations at a key UK facility which is unionised. This is a standalone role with regional HR support, offering broad exposure across the full employee lifecycle — from ER and union engagement to wellbeing, payroll, and compliance.
You’ll act as the primary HR contact for site leadership, employees, and union representatives, ensuring that local HR practices align with wider business goals, collective agreements, and employment legislation. It’s a hands-on, visible role that blends operational rigour with the opportunity to shape local initiatives and influence change.
?? What you’ll be doing:
- Partner with site and regional leadership to align HR delivery with operational and business needs
- Support and advise on employee relations, disciplinary and grievance matters, and union negotiations
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and offboarding processes with administrative support
- Support local site management in negotiating changes to collective bargaining agreements, including the periodic wage negotiations
- Ensure compliance with HR policies, GDPR, and local employment law
- Manage site-level benefits, health surveillance, and wellbeing initiatives
- Maintain accurate HR and payroll records, and act as payroll backup when needed
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve use of HR systems and reporting
What you will bring:
- CIPD Level 5 (minimum) with 5-10 years’ experience in HR management or business partnering
- Strong background in industrial environments with union-facing responsibilities
- Confident communicator with sound judgment and the ability to influence at all levels
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with regional HR leadership
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and able to balance day-to-day delivery with longer-term improvements
This is a trusted role with visibility across UK and international HR teams. If you’re looking for a role where you can make a tangible impact on people, process, and culture — we’d love to hear from you.
