Aatom Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced People Relationship Advisor to work on behalf of a local authority on a two-month rolling contract, with the possibility of extension. This is a hybrid role, requiring an average of two days per week onsite at a Camden administrative base.
The RoleThe People Relationship Advisor will support people relationship matters across a defined portfolio of services, providing expert HR advice and operational support. The role works in close partnership with service areas to promote positive employee relationships, improve engagement, and foster a strong organisational culture.
You will support the delivery of high-quality services focused on positive outcomes for residents. While you will have designated services to support, flexibility is required to assist other areas and organisational priorities as needed.
Key Responsibilities and Outcomes- Provide consistent, expert advice across all areas of employment practice, including employment legislation and policy application.
- Manage and support complex employee relations cases, including Employment Tribunals, large-scale or complex organisational change, organisational development, workforce planning, resourcing, pay and reward, job evaluation, and learning and development.
- Promote and embed inclusive, relational, and restorative approaches in employment practices.
- Offer expert guidance and hands-on involvement in cases as required, supporting dispute resolution and minimising people-related risk.
- Provide people data, insight, research, and best-practice information to support evidence-based decision-making across services.
- Support and strengthen relationships with recognised Trade Unions, staff networks, and key stakeholders.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of service-based people projects and People and Inclusion initiatives, including participation in multi-disciplinary teams where required.
- Support, coach, and develop managers in effective people management practices, including delivering training sessions and workshops.
- Assist with the design, development, and implementation of people management policies, procedures, and good practice guidelines.
- Attend meetings on behalf of the People Relationship Lead when required and act as a key point of contact in their absence.
People Management Responsibilities- No direct line management responsibility.
- May be required to coach or mentor HR colleagues, including temporary agency staff, apprentices, or individuals on work experience, including task allocation, oversight, and feedback.
Key Relationships- Build and maintain effective relationships with senior stakeholders including Directors, Heads of Service, Managers, Members, and staff.
- Work in close partnership with People and Inclusion colleagues, including Learning and Development federated services.
- Collaborate with internal support functions such as Legal, Finance, ICT, Procurement, and Strategy.
- Engage with Trade Union representatives and self-organised staff network groups.
- Liaise with external partners including schools, head teachers, bursars, governors, and statutory bodies where appropriate.
Working EnvironmentThis is a hybrid role, combining home working with attendance at a Camden administrative base. Employees are expected to work onsite an average of two days per week.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience- In-depth knowledge of employment legislation and current HR trends.
- Strong understanding of and commitment to inclusive, relational, and restorative practices.
- Demonstrable professional HR expertise, typically supported by a recognised qualification such as CIPD.
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Proven ability to analyse complex issues, identify root causes, and develop practical, value-adding solutions.
- Customer-focused, innovative, and adaptable, with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
- Experience of planning and delivering work programmes across the short to medium term, including contribution to project deliverables.
- Ability to build and sustain effective working relationships across all organisational levels.
