HR Manager (Maternity Cover)

- Contract: 12-month maternity cover
- Salary: £60,000–£65,000

Reed HR are looking for an organised, people-focused HR professional ready to step into the role of HR Lead to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will have experience working within a start-up environment and has experience using Deel.
Day-to-day of the role:

Onboarding & Employee Experience:
- Prepare and issue contracts, offer letters, and references.
- Ensure seamless first-day readiness and deliver HR induction sessions.
- Support managers with probation, performance expectations, and feedback.
- Manage employee lifecycle changes, including maternity leave and leavers.

People Operations & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate contracts and employment documentation.
- Own monthly payroll updates for joiners, leavers, and compensation changes.
- Keep headcount and holiday tracking systems up to date and compliant.

Contractor & Global Workforce Management:
- Manage EOR/contractor setup and compliance.
- Collaborate with external providers to ensure efficient global workforce processes.

Recruitment & Talent:
- Ensure hiring processes are followed consistently across teams.
- Improve tools, workflows, and candidate experience.

Performance & Organisational Development:
- Facilitate fair and consistent performance management cycles.
- Support leadership with people-related processes and org-wide initiatives.

Culture, Projects & Internal Communications:
- Lead culture and values initiatives, working with Exec and external partners.
- Surface cultural insights and risks, offering clear recommendations.
- Plan monthly All Hands meetings and support internal communications.
- Manage the People budget and organise engaging team events.

People Team Leadership:
- Line manage the HR Assistant with clarity, coaching, and support.
- Delegate effectively while maintaining accountability.

Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR systems and enhance employee experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong organisational and project-management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- High attention to detail and strong judgement.
- Deep understanding of HR/People Ops fundamentals.
- Confidence managing sensitive or confidential matters.
- Experience with HR tools and strong spreadsheet skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a passion for people and culture.
