This is a varied, people-focused HR role at the heart of Bournemouth University. As an HR Services Adviser, you'll play a key part in delivering a high-quality, responsive and professional HR service that supports our staff and managers across the entire employment journey - from recruitment through to ongoing employment and change. Someone used to HR Services, ideally lifecycle and recruitment process, with good HR Systems use.
You'll be a trusted first point of contact, providing clear, confident and practical advice, while managing a busy and rewarding workload. Working closely with Faculties and Professional Services, you'll help ensure BU remains compliant, efficient and an excellent place to work, aligned to our ambitious BU 2035 vision.

What you'll be doing
- Acting as the first point of contact for HR advice, supporting managers and staff with policies, procedures and best practice
- Managing end-to-end recruitment processes, including advertising, selection, appointment and onboarding
- Coordinating and administering employment lifecycle activities, such as contracts, probation, changes to employment and flexible working requests
- Supporting key people processes, including family leave, sickness absence and fixed-term contract management
- Ensuring compliance with employment law, immigration requirements, pre-employment checks and data protection standards
- Producing and maintaining HR records and reports, helping managers proactively manage key dates and actions
- Working closely with Payroll to resolve queries and ensure staff are paid accurately and on time
- Providing guidance on HR systems, digital processes and continuous improvements to the way we work
- Supporting formal HR processes such as disciplinary and grievance hearings
- Building strong working relationships across the University and contributing to service improvements and HR projects
- Deputising for the HR Services Manager when required
What we're looking for
Essential
- Experience working in a busy, fast-paced administrative or HR environment
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- A good understanding of HR processes across the employment lifecycle
- Confidence providing clear, professional advice to a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent IT and digital skills, with confidence using systems and data
- An understanding of data protection and information governance
- Ideally working towards (or willing to work towards) CIPD Level 3/5
Desirable
- Experience working in HR within a large or complex organisation
- Experience within Higher Education
- Knowledge of immigration processes and right-to-work requirements
