Location: Colchester
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of a growing professional services business. Working closely with the Managing Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation operates smoothly, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
This is a wide-ranging position that will suit someone who enjoys variety and responsibility, with involvement across operations, finance, business development, marketing and people management.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Business operations - managing and refining internal systems, processes and workflows to support effective day-to-day delivery
- Financial administration - overseeing invoicing and cashflow, liaising with external accountants and supporting regular financial reporting
- Business development support - assisting with delivery of the business plan, coordinating tenders and nurturing client relationships
- Marketing coordination - leading the implementation of the marketing plan, including website content, social media, newsletters and award submissions
- People support – helping with recruitment, onboarding, policies, performance reviews and staff development
About You
What matters most is your ability to keep a business running effectively and professionally. You are likely to be:
- Experienced in operations, business management or an office management role
- Commercially aware, with confidence in cashflow management, invoicing and financial reporting
- Highly organised and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- A strong communicator, comfortable dealing with colleagues, clients and external partners
- Confident using office software and business systems
- Discreet and trustworthy, with a high degree of professionalism
- A practical problem-solver with a positive, can-do approach
