People & Culture Officer
Location: North East – Site-Based with occasional travel
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Contract: Permanent
We are partnering with a fast-paced manufacturing business to recruit a proactive People & Culture Officer to support their site-based people agenda.
This is a hands-on, operational role where you will work closely with managers to deliver high-quality HR support, with a strong focus on employee relations, compliance, and day-to-day people matters. You will be visible on site, building relationships and supporting real-time decision-making in a busy environment.
The Role
You will provide practical, commercially focused HR support across the employee lifecycle, including:
- Acting as a trusted advisor to managers on a wide range of people matters
- Managing ER cases end-to-end (disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability)
- Coaching managers to build confidence and consistency in people management
- Supporting absence, probation, and performance processes
- Attending and minuting formal meetings
- Ensuring compliance with UK employment law and company policy
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and early careers activity
- Producing HR data reports and maintaining accurate records
- Contributing to wider People & Culture projects
About You
- Experience in an HR/People Officer role, ideally in a fast-paced or manufacturing environment
- Strong employee relations knowledge with the ability to manage cases independently
- Solid understanding of UK employment law
- Confident advising and coaching managers
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Professional, resilient, and comfortable handling sensitive situations
- CIPD Level 5 qualified
Desirable:
- Mediation or conflict resolution experience
- Mental Health First Aider accreditation
