Onsite Cheltenham office.This interim assignment will suit an experienced Interim HR Officer / HR Advisor who can hit the ground running in the provision of hands-on, operational HR support within an education organisation in Cheltenham on a temporary basis (initially until July 2026). This is a visible, on-site role. You will be the trusted advisor, delivering practical, day-to-day employee relations support to leaders and employees. You will support managers and staff daily, ensuring people's issues are managed effectively and proactively. Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage employee relations casework, including absence, return to work interviews and probation reviews
- Support short and long-term absence management, including welfare contact and fit note monitoring
- Provide practical guidance to line managers on day-to-day people issues
- Support low-level case management and informal capability concerns
- Ensure policies are applied consistently and documentation is maintained
- Act as a visible HR presence, building trust and identifying emerging issues proactively
- Provide clear insight to leadership on staff wellbeing, morale and risk
What you'll need to succeed
- You will be experienced in operational HR.
- This interim assignment will suit a confident professional well versed in managing employee relations casework.
- Pragmatic, approachable and solutions-focused.
- Comfortable working on-site and building relationships at all levels.
