Head of Human Resources
Salary: £55,000 per annumHours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Head of Human Resources to lead our HR function and play a key role within the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive HR professional who is just as comfortable managing strategic people initiatives as they are rolling up their sleeves and supporting day-to-day HR operations.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and managers across the organisation, you will provide expert HR leadership, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the delivery of a professional, efficient and compliant HR service.
Whilst experience within the education sector would be highly advantageous, we welcome applications from candidates with transferable experience from other complex organisational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop the HR team to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused HR service.
- Partner with senior leaders to support organisational objectives, workforce planning and performance.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, safeguarding requirements and safer recruitment practices.
- Oversee all aspects of HR operations, including:
- Recruitment and onboarding
- Employee relations, including disciplinaries, grievances, restructures and employment tribunals
- Payroll, benefits administration and workforce data management
- Learning, development, training and induction programmes
- Reward and benefits strategy and delivery
- Manage departmental and staffing budgets effectively.
- Produce HR reports, metrics and insights to support informed decision-making.
- Lead and contribute to HR projects and organisational change initiatives.
- Promote a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace culture.
About You
Essential Requirements
- Graduate calibre with CIPD Chartered Membership.
- Proven experience in a senior HR management role within a complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience of leading and developing HR teams.
- Experience managing budgets and resources.
- Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
- Sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and safer recruitment practices.
Desirable
- Experience working within education, schools or a similar environment.
- Experience managing payroll processes and HR information systems.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering HR projects.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and people development skills.
