Employee Relations Manager
Location: London Bridge, London (Hybrid Working)Salary: £45000
Reed HR are looking for an experienced and proactive Employee Relations Manager to join our client based in London Bridge. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-quality employee relations service across a complex, unionised organisation. The role offers hybrid working and will involve occasional travel.
As an Employee Relations Manager, you will partner with managers and stakeholders to provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters. You will help ensure that people issues are managed fairly, consistently, and in line with employment legislation, company policies, and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse employee relations caseload, ensuring cases are handled efficiently, accurately, and within agreed timescales.
- Provide expert guidance and coaching to managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance, capability, and other employee relations issues.
- Support and advise managers throughout formal processes, including investigations, hearings, and appeals.
- Attend formal hearings, including Gross Misconduct, Stage 3 Attendance, and Capability cases, ensuring adherence to policy and procedural requirements.
- Develop strong and effective working relationships with trade union representatives, supporting constructive dialogue and early resolution of workplace issues.
- Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of employee relations policies, procedures, and guidance materials.
- Deliver coaching, workshops, and training sessions to strengthen line manager capability in managing people-related matters.
- Analyse employee relations trends and identify emerging risks, providing insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Support organisational change and consultation activities, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and internal procedures.
- Promote a positive employee relations culture that supports employee engagement, fairness, and business performance.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience within an Employee Relations role, ideally gained within a highly unionised or complex organisational environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law, ACAS guidelines, and employee relations best practice.
- Experience managing a varied and high-volume caseload, balancing competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and challenge effectively at all levels.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to advise managers and facilitate difficult conversations.
- The ability to interpret policy and legislation and apply this pragmatically to business situations.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) would be advantageous.
