Our client, based in Sussex, is currently recruiting for a HR Advisor on a contract basis for up to ten months. The role is 37 hours per week and is offering a generous hybrid working set up of two days on site per week.
The position is due to start ASAP – subject to the candidates notice period on a full-time basis. The on offer for this role is £36,000 - £39,000 per annum. However, if you are CIPD Level 5 they can increase this marginally.
The ideal candidate will be CIPD Level 3 as a minimum and will be up to date with HR Legislation.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Provide expert HR advice to managers on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, capability and workplace conflict
- Support complex case management through investigations, meeting preparation, documentation, outcome letters, and ensure compliance with employment law and ACAS guidance
- Advise on sickness absence, occupational health referrals, reasonable adjustments, phased returns, and employee wellbeing initiatives
- Guide managers on recruitment, selection, onboarding, and fair, inclusive hiring practices in line with organisational policies and legislation.
- Support organisational change, restructures, consultation processes, redeployment, and engagement with trade unions and employee representatives.
- Maintain accurate HR records, analyse workforce data, and produce reports to identify trends, mitigate risks, and support informed decision-making.
- Contribute to HR policy development, continuous improvement projects, manager training, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance HR service delivery
Experience required:
- Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Understanding of disciplinary, grievance, capability, sickness absence and performance management procedures.
- Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, including reasonable adjustments.
- Knowledge of HR systems, ideally CIPHR, including payroll checks/compliance, data protection and confidentiality.
- Understanding of the role of HR in a local authority or public sector environment.
- Awareness of trade union working arrangements and collective consultation
