We are seeking an experienced HR Officer to join a busy and supportive HR team. This is a varied generalist role offering exposure to employee relations, recruitment, compliance, payroll, HR administration and people projects.
The Role
- Provide professional HR advice and guidance to managers and employees across a range of HR matters.
- Support employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability and absence management.
- Maintain and audit the Single Central Register (SCR), ensuring compliance with safeguarding and regulatory requirements.
- Manage recruitment campaigns from advert creation through to onboarding.
- Oversee pre-employment checks including DBS, right to work and reference checks.
- Support onboarding, probation reviews and employee lifecycle administration.
- Administer payroll changes and resolve payroll-related queries.
- Monitor sickness absence and support managers with absence management processes.
- Maintain accurate HR records, reports and documentation.
- Assist with learning and development initiatives, wellbeing programmes and HR projects.
- Review and update HR policies, procedures and best practice guidance.
About You
- Previous experience in a generalist HR role.
- CIPD qualified or working towards qualification, or equivalent HR experience.
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience handling employee relations matters.
- Recruitment and onboarding experience.
- Payroll administration experience would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Confident using HR systems, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
