ROLE SUMMARY
We’re now looking for a part-time HR Business Partner to join the HR & Ops team to help us professionalise how we support our people. In this role, you’ll be the spine of our team - a calm, methodical presence ensuring that while we chase exciting new initiatives, we never lose sight of our legal, compliant, and fundamental responsibilities. You’ll be a reliable, knowledgeable sounding board for employees and line managers across the business, someone they can turn to for practical advice and clear, consistent guidance. You’ll lead on operational communications, proactively keeping both the HR & Ops team and wider management group up to date on key milestones and requirements, whether it’s an upcoming performance review cycle, a policy update, or a change in employment legislation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on getting the details right, sees the value in strong foundations, and enjoys helping others feel confident in their decisions. You’ll be trusted and respected for your ability to take people seriously, listen well, and bring clarity and structure to any situation. We’re offering a flexible, part-time schedule of shorter hours across 5 days per week (25 hours per week), based in our London office. We’re open to shaping the structure around the right person, what matters most is finding someone who can anchor the team, drive operational excellence, and help us take our People & Culture function to the next level.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
General:
Dazed’s HR Partner will be responsible for ensuring that Dazed Media’s people practices are consistent, compliant and aligned with the needs of the business. Acting as a trusted advisor to employees and managers alike, they will provide practical, considered and solutions-focused HR support, helping to foster a positive, fair and supportive working environment.
HR Compliance
The HR Partner will assume responsibility for ensuring our compliance with all relevant employment laws and best practice requirements (eg right-to-work checks, family leave, GDPR).
Recruitment
Overall responsibility for the company’s recruitment processes will be held by the HR Partner. However, this is a team effort which involves working closely with the People/Ops Manager, the Ops Director and, ultimately, the COO. Any line manager who becomes involved (ie the ‘Hiring Manager’) will need to know that their hire is being handled in an efficient and professional process.
Employee Lifecycle
Dazed’s HR Partner will own the employee lifecycle. Alongside the People & Ops Manager, they will ensure that the employee journey, from recruitment, through induction, to development, is a happy and rewarding experience. There are also times when offboarding is required, and this needs to be handled with care and understanding, whilst ensuring legal compliance.
Employee Development
Our line managers take the professional development of their team members very seriously, but they need help. The HR Partner will coordinate performance management processes, encourage meaningful development conversations and equip managers with the tools and guidance needed to support their teams effectively
Employee Relations & Wellbeing
The HR Partner will take the lead on employee relations matters, providing balanced, sensitive and commercially considered advice to both employees and managers. They will help maintain a positive working environment by addressing concerns fairly, managing complex situations appropriately and ensuring employees feel supported throughout important or challenging moments in their working lives.
Payroll, Pensions, Benefits, etc
The HR Partner will oversee the HR-related administration of payroll, pensions and employee benefits, ensuring information is accurate, processes run smoothly and employees understand the support and entitlements available to them. Working closely with Finance and the wider People & Operations team, they will help ensure all reward-related processes are delivered efficiently, accurately and in line with company policies.
Operational
The HR Partner will be responsible for maintaining efficient, reliable and well-organised People Operations processes and systems. Alongside the Operations Director and People & Ops Manager, they will help deliver the People & Operations roadmap, identify opportunities for improvement and ensure the business has the policies, tools and processes needed to support its employees as it evolves.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
HR Knowledge
Solid generalist HR experience, ideally in a fast-paced, creative or SME environment.
Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices, with confidence applying them in real-world scenarios.
Experience supporting or managing core HR processes such as onboarding, probation, performance management, and policy implementation.
Comfortable advising managers at all levels on employee relations matters with accuracy, clarity, and sensitivity.
Operational Excellence
Able to plan ahead and manage multiple priorities, while ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.
Confident managing and maintaining HR systems, documentation, and records in a compliant and consistent way.
Proactive approach to reminders and communications – you anticipate what’s coming and make sure others are prepared.
These duties and responsibilities are indicative and not exhaustive but serve to give a realistic overview of the role and requirements. The company reserves the right to change this role description in response to the changing needs of the business.
At Dazed Media we promote a working environment in which diversity is recognised, valued and encouraged. We acknowledge the multicultural and diverse nature of the UK workforce and society in general. We are committed to principles of fairness and mutual respect. We particularly welcome applicants from those who are significantly underrepresented in our sector.
