Job Title: HR Advisor
Location: Reading / Thames Valley (Hybrid working available)
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
We are delighted to be partnering with a leading national professional services firm to recruit an experienced HR Advisor to join a growing and established People function.
This is a true generalist HR role, offering the opportunity to work closely with managers and partners, providing trusted, commercially focused HR advice aligned to the firm's strategic objectives. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting employee relations, policy development, and people initiatives across the business based in Central Reading offices. There is no parking on side but the office is easily accessible by public transport.
Purpose of the Role
As HR Advisor, you will support, advise and guide employees, managers and senior stakeholders on all aspects of people management. You will act as a trusted advisor, supporting the senior HR team and contributing to the delivery of high-quality, pragmatic HR solutions that drive positive business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain effective working relationships across the organisation
- Provide advice and guidance to managers and partners on all people matters
- Manage a broad range of HR and employee relations queries
- Support disciplinary, grievance, absence management and flexible working processes
- Update and maintain HR policies in line with current employment legislation
- Support organisational change initiatives, including restructures and redundancies
- Coach and mentor junior members of the HR team
- Maintain accurate HR records and update HR systems as required
- Collaborate with recruitment and learning & development teams on resourcing and training
- Contribute to cultural change programmes and people initiatives
- Support senior HR colleagues with complex employee relations cases
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum 4 years' generalist HR experience at Advisor level or above
- CIPD Level 5 qualified, or working towards Level 7
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and best practice
- Experience supporting employee relations cases end to end
- Confident advising and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Sound judgement, and a calm, professional approach
- High levels of integrity, discretion and approachability
- Proficient in HR systems and Microsoft Office
