HR Business Partner (TUPE)
- Temporary/Supply – up to 6 months
- Location: Croydon with regular travel to academies
We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join the Harris Federation, a leading multi-academy trust in the UK. This role is crucial during a significant programme of organisational change, including TUPE transfers involving up to 800 employees. You will provide hands-on support and expert advice to academy leaders, ensuring effective employee relations and compliance during this transitional period.
Day-to-day of the role:
HR Business Partnering:
- Act as a trusted advisor to academy leaders, offering proactive, practical advice on workforce planning, engagement, performance, and wellbeing.
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders and provide confident, solutions-focused guidance.
TUPE & Organisational Change:
- Provide expert support on TUPE transfers, including consultation processes, data accuracy, and compliance.
- Support leaders through organisational changes, restructures, and workforce transitions.
- Manage consultation processes and work effectively with trade unions and employee representatives.
Employee Relations:
- Lead and advise on complex ER cases, including disciplinary and grievance, sickness absence and capability, performance management, restructures, and redeployment.
- Ensure cases are handled fairly, consistently, and in line with employment law and organisational policies.
Coaching & Leadership Support:
- Coach and support academy leaders to strengthen people management capabilities.
- Promote early intervention and informal resolution where appropriate.
- Build confidence in leaders to manage people issues effectively.
Workforce Insight & Projects:
- Analyse workforce data and trends to inform HR initiatives (attendance, retention, engagement).
- Contribute to HR projects, policy development, and leadership training as required.
- Support consistent HR practice across academies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner, particularly in environments undergoing significant organisational change.
- Strong background in employee relations, TUPE, and change management.
- Ability to provide pragmatic, legally sound advice and coaching to leaders who may not be HR specialists.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to travel regularly to academies, including locations in Essex.
