The Role
We are seeking a diligent and organised Safeguarding and HR Administration Support professional to join our HR function on a part-time basis. This is a newly created role that plays a vital part in ensuring safeguarding compliance and safer recruitment processes across the organisation.
You will support the HR Adviser by managing Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks, coordinating safeguarding training, and maintaining accurate records in line with national safeguarding guidelines.
This role is well suited to someone with strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail, and a high level of integrity who is comfortable handling sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities
- Process all DBS checks, including renewals
- Manage safer recruitment paperwork for staff and volunteers
- Monitor completion of safeguarding training and refresher courses via an online portal
- Follow up with staff and volunteers to ensure timely compliance
- Maintain spreadsheets, dashboards and accurate safeguarding records
- Update employee and volunteer records, including safeguarding notices
- Notify line managers when safer recruitment processes are complete
- Respond to basic queries relating to safeguarding and safer recruitment
- Produce reports summarising safeguarding and safer recruitment activity
- Liaise with external organisations and safeguarding professionals for advice and support
- Promote a safeguarding-conscious culture and the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
- Assist colleagues with safeguarding aspects of risk assessments
- Occasionally support HR investigations and general HR administration
While experience in safeguarding, safer recruitment and DBS processing is desirable, training can be provided for the right candidate. You will, however, be an experienced administrator with strong organisational skills and a collaborative working style.
You will be comfortable working across multiple systems and handling routine administrative tasks such as scanning, data entry and record archiving, while also being confident producing reports and maintaining compliance documentation.

- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and databases
- Excellent organisational, communication and record-keeping skills
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Experience in an administrative role
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Confident, proactive and flexible with a “can-do” attitude
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Knowledge of safeguarding and safer recruitment practices
- Experience supporting HR administration
- Experience using portals, databases and volunteer management systems
Special Factors
- Occasional flexibility in working hours is required
- Some out-of-hours attendance at training or meetings may be necessary
- The role involves handling sensitive information and requires compliance with safer recruitment procedures
- A DBS check will be required
Salary and Benefits
- £16,800 – £19,200 (£28,000 – £32,000 FTE), depending on experience
