Interim Employee Relations Advisor – NHS
Location: Surrey (Hybrid – 2 days on site)
Duration: 3–6 months
Rate: Band 6 (£23.53 PAYE)
Start: ASAP (within a couple of weeks)
We are supporting an NHS organisation in Surrey to recruit an experienced Employee Relations Advisor on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an ER professional to join a busy HR team and support a broad caseload within a large healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert ER advice to managers across a range of issues including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and harassment (Respect) cases
- Support managers through formal investigations, including advice on suspensions and ensuring a fair, consistent approach
- Assist in the preparation of investigation reports and coach managers for formal hearings
- Attend ER meetings, ensuring accurate documentation and best practice guidance
- Advise on terms and conditions, policies, and employment legislation
- Support with the preparation and management of Employment Tribunal cases
- Contribute to ER data reporting, identifying trends and supporting action planning
- Proactively support managers with short-term sickness absence management
- Provide HR support to corporate areas, including workforce data, staff engagement initiatives, and management capability development
About You:- Proven experience in an Employee Relations Advisor role, ideally within the NHS or wider public sector
- Strong working knowledge of ER policies, employment law, and best practice
- Confident managing a complex caseload and working to tight deadlines
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience supporting formal investigations and hearings
