DOC Cleaning is looking for a practical, organised and professional People Advisor to join our People Team on a fixed-term contract, initially for 6 months.
This role has been created to support the People and Culture Team during a period of maternity leave. It is a great opportunity for someone with HR experience who enjoys supporting managers and employees, handling varied people matters, and contributing to a busy, service-focused business.
The role will provide first-line HR advice, administrative support and casework assistance across a wide range of people-related matters, including employee relations, TUPE administration, recruitment, onboarding, HR systems, reporting and general People Team processes.
You will work closely with the People Advisory Team, managers and employees to ensure people processes are handled accurately, confidentially and in line with company policies and UK employment legislation.
Key responsibilitiesAs People Advisor, you will:
- Support the People Advisory Team with employee relations matters, including absence management, investigations, disciplinary, grievance, flexible working and probation processes.
- Provide practical first-line HR advice and guidance to managers and supervisors.
- Prepare HR documentation, including letters, meeting invitations, outcome letters, contracts and variation letters.
- Attend employee relations meetings as note-taker or HR support where required.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records.
- Support TUPE processes, including incoming and outgoing transfers, consultation documentation, employee data and employer liability information.
- Assist with redundancy administration, including employee data, letters, meeting notes and cost calculations.
- Support mobilisation and onboarding activity for new contracts, including recruitment coordination where TUPE does not apply.
- Ensure HR systems, including CMS Templa, are accurate and up to date.
- Produce basic HR reports and support data cleansing, auditing and compliance checks.
- Assist with People Team projects focused on improving engagement, inclusion, systems, processes, compliance and employee experience.
- Respond to general HR queries from managers and employees, escalating more complex or high-risk matters when appropriate.

You will need:
- Previous experience working in an HR or People Team role.
- A good understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting employee relations processes such as absence, disciplinary or grievance matters.
- The ability to follow HR policies and procedures accurately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and HR systems.
- The ability to build positive working relationships with managers, employees and colleagues.
- Good workload management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- The confidence to use your initiative while knowing when to escalate matters.
Desirable experienceThe following would be advantageous:
- Previous experience in a generalist HR role.
- Experience supporting TUPE processes, either incoming or outgoing.
- HR experience within cleaning, facilities management or a similar service-based industry.
- Experience using CMS Templa or similar HR/payroll systems.
- CIPD Level 3 qualification, or working towards a CIPD qualification.
